Wall Art "i do this for you", Beaded Wall Hanging

"i do this for you", Beaded Wall Hanging

$1,500.00

Beaded Wall Hanging
Beaded embroidery on cotton in wooden frame
7” Diameter
2024

This piece is a meditative exercise in memory. The circular format of the embroidery hoop is emphasized by the beads that shift from large and brightly colored, to small and blue, emulating the refraction of UV rays as they descend through water, eliminating reds, oranges and yellows first, then greens and purples, then eventually fading to black with depth.

I made this with the intention of these words appearing to be drawn into a whirlpool, a vortex of actions and words that sink to the bottom of the ocean, losing their color as they drift farther from the surface and the sun’s light. The ocean was and is a way that I connect with my dad, from learning to swim, surf, sail, snorkel, and dive with him.
